The Pigalle, named after the famous Parisian neighbourhood, is the purest expression of Louboutin's pointed-toe red-sole artistry. The original Pigalle has since been retired; the Follies is Christian Louboutin's current pointed pump in the same spirit.

With nothing under the arch, the 100mm sits at its full, honest pitch. It runs small and cuts narrow, so size up half a size. Every pair we handle is authenticated in house before it reaches you, so a good pre-owned example holds its appeal long after it leaves the boutique.

Wearing it

The red sole

Louboutin's red is a specific shade (Pantone 18-1663, Rouge Louboutin). On a worn pair it fades and scuffs at the tread first. A sole that reads orange or pinkish, or paint sitting on top of the leather rather than in it, is a warning sign.

The red sole is engraved with Christian Louboutin and the size, set across the arch. On a genuine pair the lettering is crisp, evenly pressed and correctly placed. Shallow, uneven or badly spaced engraving, or a stamp that looks printed on rather than pressed in, is a common tell on a fake.

The insole stamp

Christian Louboutin and Made in Italy are stamped cleanly into the insole with the size. The lettering is even and precisely spaced. Smudged, shallow, or misaligned stamping is one of the most common tells on a fake.

The heel and tip

The Pigalle is a 100mm heel with no platform, so the pitch and proportions are exact. Check the heel is the correct height and the tip is a genuine Louboutin replacement, not a generic one.

Construction

The make should feel precise: even stitching, a supple lining, and cleanly finished edges. Rough seams or uneven lasting are common tells on a fake.
